Mahalabia  (Muhallebi)

This Middle Eastern milk pudding is wonderfully creamy and smooth and so easy to make!

milk sugar  cornstarch  Optional: orange blossom water, gum mastic droplets, chopped pistachios

Ingredients

STEP 1

In a medium-sized pot, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch and milk.

STEP 2

Bring to a boil (on medium-high heat), stirring frequently.

STEP 3

Lower the heat and keep heating for about 2 more minutes, or until thickened.

STEP 4

Off the heat, add the flavoring. If using gum mastic, grind it with a little bit of sugar first.

STEP 5

Transfer to a measuring cup, if desired, to make it easier to pour into the serving cups.

STEP 6

Pour into serving cups. Cool down slightly at room temperature then cover and chill.

STEP 7

Decorate with chopped pistachios, pomegranate seeds or whatever you like! Enjoy!
