Mini Chocoflan Cake

Ingredients

eggs condensed milk milk flour  cocoa powder  baking soda baking powder buttermilk vegetable oil  sugar  salt orange zest

STEP 1

For the caramel: Pour the water into a saucepan and add the sugar. 

STEP 2

Bring to a boil swirling occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

STEP 3

When the caramel reaches a medium amber color, pour into ramekins.

STEP 4

For the flan: Whisk together the eggs, milk and condensed milk until combined.

STEP 5

Pour through a fine-mesh sieve set over a measuring cup.

STEP 6

Pour the mixture into the ramekins, filling them evenly. Bake in a water bath.

STEP 7

For the cake: Mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. 

STEP 8

In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, oil, egg and orange zest. Then whisk in the sugar.

STEP 9

Sift the flour mixture over the wet ingredients and whisk just until fully combined.

STEP 10

Take the ramekins out of the oven. Top the flan with chocolate batter.

STEP 11

Cover with parchment paper and bake until the cake bounces back when lightly pressed.

STEP 12

Cool down on a wire rack and chill before unmolding. Enjoy!
